Lipidamide is a pale yellow liquid with a faint odour which is a processible alkanolamide that influences the application properties of liquid and pasty cleansing agents in cosmetic and industrial applications.It is a foaming or thickening agent in liquid detergent, facial foam, etc. 

Lipidamide is soluble in fatty oils, fatty esters, cosmetic oil components and acts as an emulsifier, solubilizer and viscosity regulator. It can easily be soluble in lower and higher alcohols and is able to increase the viscosity of surfactant formulations especially if combined with fatty alcohol ethersulphates.
